Programs Making an Impact
As a nonprofit teaching hospital, PCVSC is committed to prioritizing veterinary services for our clients. Instead of distributing profits to owners and shareholders, we will reinvest all revenues back into essential programs. At launch, our essential programs will include Access to Care, Veterinary Training, Research, and Working Dog Care.
Access to Care
PCVSC is dedicated to providing specialty veterinary services to animal shelters and pet owners facing financial hardships who might otherwise need to relinquish their pets. We also extend specialized veterinary assistance to underserved communities, ensuring all pets receive the care they deserve.
Veterinary Training
To address the critical shortage of veterinary specialists, PCVSC offers comprehensive training programs:
- Externships for third and fourth-year veterinary students.
- Internships for recent graduates.
- Three-year Specialty Residencies for veterinarians wishing to become board certified in particular disciplines.
Research
Our specialists are engaged in research aimed at advancing medical care for pets. PCVSC participates in clinical trials to access novel medications for diseases currently lacking effective treatments. This research is conducted with the utmost care to ensure no increase in risk to the animals’ health or well-being.
Our commitment to research and publication in cutting-edge veterinary medicine continually improves the standard of care industry-wide.
Working Dog Care
Drawing on our co-founders’ experiences with first responders and their organizations, PCVSC provides essential veterinary services for working and service dogs. These animals, serving in the military, police, fire departments, and disability assistance roles, are prone to job-related injuries and illnesses. Recognizing that care for these vital companions can be cost-prohibitive, we offer subsidized advanced treatments—including emergency medicine, surgery, and cancer care—to ensure they can continue their important work when possible.
